USA Boxing, or “Pugilism”, is the art or sport of fighting with fists, particularly with padded gloves in a roped square ring. Our Boxing class begins with several rounds of functional drills as well as calisthenics and plyometrics. Afterward the class puts on gloves (we have loaners for those who do not have their own) and drill functional techniques and tactics that would apply to a real boxing match. Those wanting to compete will then spar or do rigorous pad work, while those who take the class for the fitness aspect will do more drills or work on the bags or with a padholder.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ)

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, also known as BJJ, is a martial art and combat sport system that focuses entirely on ground fighting and submission holds. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu was developed to help a smaller person subdue a larger stronger opponent by use of leverage and technique. Due to the low impact and subjective nature of BJJ training, it is suitable for all walks of life including athletes, children, women, and young adults. Our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class begins with a functional warm up followed by demonstration and drilling of techniques. After the ‘technical’ half of the class is over, those students with enough experience will do several rounds of BJJ sparring, which we refer to as “rolling”.

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA)

MMA is where it all comes together. Mixed Martial Arts is a full-contact combat sport that allows both striking and grappling, both standing and on the ground, using techniques from other combat sports and martial arts. Our MMA class consists of live drilling and sparring, geared primarily toward those who desire to compete in MMA fights in the future.
