The aura of invincibility of UFC (and former WEC) legend Jose Aldo Jr. has been shattered once again. After being ‘promoted’ to undisputed champion after winning the interim belt in a rematch with Frankie Edgar, Aldo was savagely finished at the hands of Max Holloway in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, at Saturday night’s UFC 212.
After the devastating loss on his home turf, it’s no surprise that Aldo declined to talk to the media after the fight. But now, less than 48 hours after the fight, Jose Aldo broke his silence via social media:
“Be content to act, and leave the talking to others” – Baltasar Gracian
I only have to thank my ‘dad’ Andre Pederneiras, the best team in the world, Nova Uniao, because if it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t be the people’s champion, and (thank) all my trainers, who did a super well done job and got me ready, and all my fans who are always with me, here’s my love and my thank you. I’m speechless with all the love I’ve received until today, and every word you send to me. Thank you.
The rest, fuck it, because I’ll come back, because we go down so we can get back up!! That’s it!! We’ll be back!!
Aldo suffered the third defeat of his MMA career Saturday, but dropped to 1-2 in his last three appearances inside the Octagon. Yet, Aldo’s coach Andre Pederneiras told the media after the defeat that Aldo isn’t too far away from from getting another shot at the featherweight belt.
