MMA and boxing fans alike have been chattering for the last year or so about the proposed superfight between UFC lightweight champion Irish superstar Conor McGregor and pound for pound all time boxing great Floyd Mayweather Jr. [who is officially retired at this point in time].
With UFC president Dana White stepping in recently to try to make this fight a reality, optimism is at an all time high that we will actually see this sport vs. sport superfight come to fruition.
The consensus among fans seems to be that Floyd will win this match up, considering it is a boxing match and not an MMA fight, and Floyd has dismantled some of the very best in the history of the sport. During an interview with fight hype, His father former pro boxer Floyd Mayweather Sr. stated that Conor wouldn’t stand a chance vs Floyd Jr. in a boxing match:
He don’t want that fight. Floyd’s gonna turn him upside down. That be like you and Floyd in the ring! [Laughs]. He looks bad in the ring. That’s a done deal right there. They’ve already showed the best that he’s got.
He ain’t nothing but talk! I told them people on the TV already, forget about Floyd. Let’s throw Floyd to the side. Here I am, I’m a 64-year-old man and I’ll beat your ass. I’ll beat the s**t out of McGregor! Anytime he wants it, let’s go. I’m telling you right now, he can do all the stuff he want to do but this guy don’t know nothing about how to get your body right and the amount of time and everything you’ve got to do, he don’t know nothing about that.
