One of the most fierce competitors in the history of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is crossing over to the cage. Four-time IBJJF world champion and GFT black belt Rodolfo Vieira will make his MMA debut at Real Fight, a Japanese promotion that will make its debut in Vieiras native Brazil on Febuary 11th at the Ibirapuera gymnasium in Sao Paulo, which happens to be the same arena in which Vieira won the ADCC gold medal in 2005.
During an interview with MMA fighting, Vieira said he will be taking on Sadyrbek Uulu (0-1) in the light heavyweight division.
I’m really happy to make this debut in Brazil, I was a bit nervous too, because it’s a big responsibility to make this debut in Brazil. But it will be cool and, at the same time, an extra motivation. My focus will be the same, I’m training hard and really confident.
Vieira left Brazil in 2016 and joined the world famous American Top Team gym to focus on MMA. American top team is home to some of the worlds best fighters, so one can expect Vieira to come to this fight very well prepared.
